CONTACT: Alan Cook, Newton County Commissioner
Officials with Newton County, City of Joplin, and Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will celebrate the opening of Joplin’s newest bridge with a Ribbon Cutting event.
The Ribbon Cutting event will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, on the north side of the bridge. Parking will be in the lots located to the west of the bridge. (To reach the bridge, travel south on Jackson Avenue, and turn left on Glendale Road. Parking lots will be on the right/south side of the road, with the bridge just east of the lots.)
A brief program will take place prior to the formal ribbon cutting. Representatives from the Newton County Commission and Joplin City Council will provide comments along with recognition of many involved in this collaborative project.
This bridge replaces the low-water bridge in McIndoe Park built in 1919, which will remain open for pedestrians and bicyclists in the area.
Comments are closed.
