March 4, 2022 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Long-time County Auditor will not seek re-election [Neosho, MO, March 4, 2022] Newton County Auditor, Charlotte Walker Ward will not seek re-election. “After five terms in office serving as Newton County Auditor, I have come to the difficult decision that I will not run for re-election in 2022. As the time for filing approached and began it became clear that it is time for me to use my skills to serve my family. It has been a great honor to serve the citizens of Newton County and I have worked diligently for them the past twenty years. The trust placed in me to oversee, change and grow County processes and systems was not taken lightly. During my years at Newton County the audit team has made progressive changes in cooperative departments and moved the County from the era of paper and pencil to total electronic means and resources for our employees and departments that choose to utilize them. I am excited for my future adventures, whatever they may be. My hope is that voters will research the candidates, their skill set specifically and elect the most skilled to serve the taxpayers.” The audit team will continue to tackle projects thru the end of the year & Ward’s term to be prepared for transition into 2023.
