Cares Act

CARES Act Application for Funding (Click here)
June 1, 2020

The Newton County Commission received $6.8 million in CARES Act Funding to support Newton County in its response and recovery from COVID-19. The Commission has established a process for entities to apply for reimbursement of eligible expenses incurred from March 1- December 30, 2020.

Before beginning the application process we ask that you familiarize yourself with the elements of this funding to be sure your request meets the criteria of eligible uses under the Act. Links to the Act, Guidelines, Questions and Answers, and up-to-date information regarding CARES funding may be found at https://home.treasury.gov/policy-issues/cares/state-and-local-governments. Additional information is also located at https://treasurer.mo.gov/COVID.

CARES funding will be paid on a reimbursement basis only; no loans or grants will be awarded at this time. First round or initial funding will be prioritized by funding group and expenses already incurred and paid by entities. If you have items that you would like to have reimbursed with CARES funding but have NOT expended please submit a separate application for those costs.

Submit one application PER FUNDING GROUP. For example, if you have costs that fit Funding group one (1) and costs that fall in funding group four (4), please submit two applications one for group one (1) with supporting documentation and one for group four (4) with supporting documentation. After initial review of the application, the Commission will categorize requests based on the funding group on the application. When each funding group is reviewed you may receive an additional questionnaire to complete.

Upon completion, email the application and supporting documentation to cares@newtoncountymo.gov. The County will review applications and additional questionnaires on a weekly basis.

CARES funding applications and information will be available at www.newtoncountymo.com/CARES. All questions regarding CARES funding will be directed to this page.

The Newton County Commission is committed to entities in our County. We understand the needs of our community and will work as quickly and diligently as possible to release the CARES Act funding.
